I would like to make a quick recap of my trip to Cambodia half a year ago with my husband. We departed from Siem Reap Angkor International Airport and transferred to the city with Taptaxi. My husband found the affordable taxi service and made a booking before we arrived. Their driver welcomed us with a nameplate at the gate. He was so friendly and told us about Cambodia and places to visit in Siem Reap.

We spent three days in Siem Reap and rented two bikes to ride around the city and taste the street food at night at Pub Street and the Psa Ler market. The prices were affordable, and the food looked clean and freshly made. We visited several temples around Angkor Wat, which had incredible designs. I was impressed by how friendly and honest the people are in this country. They welcomed us with soft smiles and taught us to greet in their language: "Chom reab sur," as I remembered.

It was an amazing and enjoyable time with these friendly people. We had to travel from Siem Reap to Battambang to complete a mission for our workplace. We booked a private taxi from Taptaxi again for the journey from Siem Reap to Battambang. Their customer service was very quick to respond and helpful in solving our concerns, making us feel comfortable during the ride.

Our whole month in Battambang was also a good time. We shopped for street food in the market. Everything was clean, affordable, and freshly cooked, though the weather was a bit hot at 38 degrees at that time. A kilo of mangosteen was only 1.25 bucks. We tried the bamboo train, which was organized by the community.

Banan Mountain, with the unique and ancient Wat Banan, is highly recommended for those who have more than one day in Battambang. This temple, about 27 km from the town center, was built at the end of the 12th century and is surrounded by rice fields on top of an approximately 400-meter-high mountain. Despite past looting, this archaeological site is still well preserved.

We also visited the Hindu temple Wat Ek Phnom, which is about 13 km north of Battambang. The 45-minute walk from the central town to the temple is a gorgeous trip, passing through the tranquil Cambodian countryside. Situated next to a large pond, the dilapidated temple is well known for its carved pediments and lintels.

I highly recommend everyone visit this small country because there are many things to explore, and the people are willing to share their culture. Their smiles make you feel at home. I left Cambodia in December of 2023 and traveled back to Siem Reap Angkor International Airport from Battambang province. Tap’s driver picked us up on time, and we talked a lot along the way. We felt unprepared to leave Cambodia at that time. BOOK NOW
